Client Testimonials

I founded Aging with Advocacy to assist clients and their families during uncertain times by providing them with the necessary support and resources. Here are some examples of families that I have helped along the way.

Lisa has been instrumental in the move of our aging family member from assisted living in Portland to join us in Central Oregon at his new memory care facility.  Not only did she assist in the assessment by the insurance company to qualify him for memory care, she took him to lunch to give us advice about our concerns regarding his complaints about feeding.  She has been a great resource to visit him upon request and give us an objective opinion of his decline as we are three hours away and cannot always get to see things firsthand.

Our concerns about this big move at this stage in his health and wellness has caused trepidation and she was able to reassure us and answer questions.  We have so greatly appreciated her calm and knowledgeable responses.

She was always timely, thoughtful and thorough in everything that she has done to support us.  The detailed write-up submitted with her billing gave us concrete information to refer to.

I would highly recommend Lisa to any family needing support with an aging relative.

Thanks so much!!

My husband passed away unexpectedly.  I am from Japan and have 2 kids.

Recently, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Lisa attended my Dr/Oncology appointments, asked important questions on my behalf, and kept my sons updated by writing detailed medical appointment summaries.

She was able to provide support, interpret with the doctor, and guide me to make decisions that were most comfortable for me. She had resources from others to get references on the pros/cons of others going through similar medical procedures.

“I selected and invited Lisa to come with me for lymphedema treatment in Italy a few years ago. I knew Lisa’s comfort and interest in her role was to be my health advocate. Before leaving the USA, my husband told Lisa to stop treatments/surgery if she had any doubts. Lisa was brilliant in supporting me to navigate the communications given the intensity of the Italian doctor/clinic. She attended all appts, and treatments and was at the hospital during and after surgery. The Professor/surgeon Dr. Campisi did not know what to make of consistent Lisa’s presence, questions, and advocacy in my care. Ultimately, Prof/Dr. Campisi asked her, “Are you a Dr or Lawyer?” In sum, Lisa was there to take on all roles and support me on daily basis with lymphedema treatment in Italy. Who else can do this???”

“I hired Lisa (as a conservator) to work with a client who lives in an Adult Foster Home after experiencing a severe stroke that left her essentially nonverbal, hemiplegic, and unable to do any of her self-care. Lisa assembled her team which included her best friend, a music therapist, her guardian/brother, caregivers, and a nurse case manager. With my client’s involvement, Lisa developed a simple picture communication system that supported my client to communicate her basic needs to her “team.” Lisa knew when to step aside, encouraging my client to get out of her recliner and
try therapy in an outpatient setting where she continues to make progress.”

“I have known Lisa as a friend since childhood. Lisa was for my Dad when he was at Crestview Convalescence, where she worked as Speech Path. More recently, Lisa was present for my Mom when she had her health challenges. Lisa was a confidante and advisor for my family and me while Mom had a significant health decline. She advised me about My Mom’s hospital care and return home. When my Mom came back home, she found an amazing caregiver, advised me on specifics, and quietly advised me on end-of-life decisions.”

“I have worked in medicine for many years but found managing my Mom’s health care, especially post-hospitalization, to be very challenging.  Lisa was there right away to listen and provide assistance.  She helped guide my family with my Mom’s swallowing problems and was very knowledgeable about rehab and discharge planning.  Lisa provided us great resources for when my Mom came home, allowing us to select the best in-home and physical therapy.”

“I highly recommend working with Lisa.  She is an incredible patient advocate and caregiver that helps patients and families manage very difficult situations, providing peace of mind and comfort for everyone.”

“When in business, I had 2 rules: 1) be on time and 2) when arrive pay attention. Then “find out what the customer needs and wants and then give it to them! My experience with Lisa checks the above boxes with professional dependability and, above all, with passion and KINDNESS!”

“Lisa and I have been working together with a client for over a year. I have been a caregiver for many years, but I learned so much working with Lisa. She’s very supportive of our client, makes sure he has all his DR appointments and provides assistance and resources for him.

I would highly recommend working with Lisa; she cares about her patients and is a great advocate for patients and families.”

“My brother’s need for life skills assistance was complicated by family and friends who were not living around him. Lisa quickly became familiar with those needs and our concerns. Having a Life Care Consultant was the perfect solution to accomplish the multitude of issues that needed sorting out, addressing them immediately, and ultimately preparing him for a cross-country move. Her management style was special. She created early trusting relationships , was professional with genuine kindness and caring. All of us on his “team” are grateful for her service.”

“I highly recommend Lisa for assisting you with caring for your loved one. We hired Lisa to be the local care team for my MIL, as we are 3000 miles away. She was an invaluable resource to our family.

Lisa is caring, patient, and thorough in her assessments and follow-through. She accompanied my MIL to medical appointments, provided excellent resources for a handyman to install grab bars, etc., as well as other resources.

Lisa provided emotional support to family members as well when difficult situations needed a sounding board.

I highly recommend Lisa’s loving care and attention to help you navigate the terrain of geriatric care management with a professional.
